The 2006 summer school was based on Derek Walcott’s, ‘Ti-Jean and his Brothers!’ A tale of a young hero who succeeds where his brothers failed to defeat the devil! Musical Director, Mat Fox, brought the play to life with the big, bold sound of the Bloco and Artistic Director Ali Pretty made it a visual spectacular and Nicholai LaBarrie Directed the story. Bringing together original compositions, traditional songs, rampant drum rhythms, stunning choreography, costume and accompanied by 3 15ft puppets, we created a show that we played in festivals and on the route of Thames festival 2006.
For the third week of the Summer School we worked with Oval House theatre’s young actors as Nicholai bought the play together and created a show which we presented in Kennington Park.
