We have our latest edition to add to KB’s – The Lockdown Stories. We asked Bloco family – seniors, juniors, mums, dads, aunts, uncles and trustees, how they’re feeling being in doors 24-7, what they’ve been doing, the pros and the cons. Why? It’s good to share!

This edition is from Nicholai. Nicholai is a Bloco guardian: he is on our board! Nicholai, is a full on creative – theatre director, musician and father. Here, Nicholai shares how he’s been dealing with keeping contact with family, homeschooling and connecting through music and theatre.

What have you been up to during your lockdown? Home Schooling my son. Doing loads of research on plays that I am working on. Talking to my family in the Caribbean and enjoying the quiet in the world.

How are you feeling? I am a little scared as to what will come next, a little anxious about work. I am a theatre director and musician, which all involve large groups of people, which can’t happen for a while. But I am also hopeful about humanity and the outpouring of love and support that has come with all the uncertainty and I am grateful for the rest and time to think.

How do you feel about your exams/gigs/teaching being off for now? I am still teaching quite a bit online so that’s been fun still connecting with students and running workshops and figuring out camera angles and all of that. We are so adaptable; it’s brilliant.

What are you finding difficult? Playing music with my band, but we are trying to find ways. Also, home schooling; my son is way smarter than I am and they changed math …. Math! Why would they change math! It’s different to when I learned.

One thing that would make anyone smile if they were feeling down right now: Somebody is missing you and wants to talk to you. You are missing someone and want to talk to them. Email, text, call, connect. We make all this tech to be more connected, we should use it.
