We have our latest edition to add to KB’s The Lockdown Stories. We asked Bloco family – seniors, juniors, mums, dads, aunts, uncles and trustees, how they’re feeling being in doors 24-7, what they’ve been doing, the pros and the cons. Why? It’s good to share!

This edition is from ZyAnn. You can usually find her in the Dance section. However, over the last year, she’s picked up her saxophone again and is exploring both dance and woodwind!

Here’s what ZyAnn has been up to during the lockdown:

Name: ZyAnn

Bloco section: Dance and Brass and Woodwind

What have you been up to during your lockdown? Well, I think i’ve watched nearly every series that comes to my head and the release of Disney+ has had me bouncing off walls. I’ve played and practiced a lot but most importantly, taken time out to reflect and become a better and happier person.

How are you feeling? I feel okay. I mean it’s weird, I miss my friends so much more than I though I possibly could and I actually miss the Southbank centre too. Then again I love it, no responsibilities, no school, no revision. I feel like it’s a start of a new beginning in a way.

How do you feel about your exams/gigs/teaching being off for now? Well it’s bitter sweet. I really miss performing, practicing and everything that comes with it. Im also frustrated that after all the hard work that’s been put into these exams has gone to waste. I hated school as-well it was actually a drag to go in! However, I’m ready to come back like this all never happened and keep improving.

What are you finding difficult? I’m finding it very difficult to keep busy. After i’ve listened to every single Hot 8 album in history, played every sheet in my music book, danced until I no longer can and sung my heart out to the fairies – What do I do then ? I’m also struggling to not text my friends ‘ I miss them ‘ every hour but it’s really hard out here man !

One thing that would make anyone smile if they were feeling down right now: Nothing lasts forever, it’ll all be over and we will all be reunited soon. But keep your head up, keep practicing and stay safe.

Love, Zy xo
