Here’s our latest edition to add to KB’s – #TheLockdownStories. We asked Bloco family how they’re feeling being in doors 24-7? What they’ve been doing? And the pros and the cons of #TheLockdown life. Why? It’s good to share!
Today, we hear from Tyrell. Tyrell joined us for the first time last year and it’s been a pleasure getting to know him! Tyrell, joined the Brass and Woodwind section and can be found on the Tenor Horn! Though he’s been stuck in doors, like the rest of us! He’s been keeping creative by finding music to play and joining Bloco activities. Besides playing his instruments and gaming, he’s been finding other things to fill his time – exercise, reflection and more.
Here’s Tyrell’s experience so far
Name: Tyrell Smith
Bloco section: Brass and Woodwind
What have you been up to during your lockdown? I’ve, of course, been playing my instrument to pass the time. But in addition, I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube and playing video games. I also go for walks with my mum every now and then for some fresh air because it feels very refreshing and helps me to take my mind of off the negative, as well as doing exercise to keep fit.
How are you feeling? Quite bored and a bit sad, but I’m trying to stay positive
How do you feel about your music being off for now? Although it’s a bit of an inconvenience, I know that I’m going to get to do my music activities after this is done. So in the meantime, I’ve been printing out songs that I want to try and play on my tenor horn. Additionally, I have been doing some scheduled music in the form of online Bloco sessions
What are you finding difficult? The seclusion, especially during a time like this where many people are struggling. I do hope that this does end soon, but I still try to remain in contact with family and friends to check up on them
One thing that would make anyone smile if they were feeling down right now: Just remember that many people are helping to make this period for some people a bit easier. Such as Capt Tom Moore who has raised millions of pounds for the NHS by walking around his backyard 100 times before his 100th birthday. So at least everyone’s trying to help each other to get through this period.
