2020 is our 20^th Year and our theme for the year is ‘In the Spirit of….celebration, togetherness, Kinetika Bloco’. When we brainstormed this theme with our team and young people back in a hotel breakfast room in New Orleans on Thanksgiving November 2019, we never imagined that our 20^th celebration would coincide with a global pandemic! It didn’t feature in the plan at all, funnily enough, and yet here we are!

However, one of the biggest threads to the theme was the idea of Togetherness. The essence of the spirit of Kinetika Bloco is that we are in it together. We celebrate growth and success together, we experience joy and pain together, we look forward and always respect our heritage. We understand that Kinetika Bloco is more than the sum of its parts, it surpasses the ordinary and is deeper than any one person, genre, ego or moment in time. This seems as important today as it is every day in Bloco. We feel Togetherness is something that we should be about always, not just when the bad stuff is happening, but always.

With that in mind on Giving Tuesday Now, we want to say a massive thank you to all those who support us with their time, skills, capacity, knowledge, talent, love and finances. We are truly grateful that we get to be a part of this celebration of life with you. We also want to highlight that we have just reached 20 people signed up for our Bloco Friends and Family Scheme #BFF. 20 people in our 20^th year have pledged to support us monthly and that is massive for us and for our young people.  So thank you to all the #BFF’s, we love you.
