Today we are very happy to announce an exciting development in our Governance structure. The creation of a co-chair arrangement between our current Chair David Hopley OBE and our NEW co-chair Nicholai La Barrie.
David joined the Kinetika Bloco Board in October 2012 with a particular focus on developing our Young Leadership Programme and took on the role of Chair in 2013 from Chris Killourhy. David said:
“I am delighted to announce that with immediate effect, the position of Chair of the Board of Trustees will now be shared, and to that end, it is with great pleasure that I welcome my co-chair, Nicholai La Barrie. I would also like to recognise the immense contribution that he has made thus far as a member of our Board, but equally acknowledge the fantastic contribution he will make going forward as our co-Chair. Please join me in welcoming Nicholai to his new role.”
Nicholai La Barrie has been a friend of Kinetika Bloco since Directing ‘Ti-Jean and His Brothers’ our joint production with Oval House Youth Theatre in 2006. Over the years Nicholai has been a strong supporter of all that we do and joined the Board as a Trustee in May 2016. Nicholai has worked internationally and across the UK as a director, actor and arts administrator. His work as a director includes productions at: Lyric Hammersmith, Arcola Theatre, Edinburgh Festival, LIFT, Gate, and Ovalhouse. Most recently, he was resident director on TINA – The Tina Turner Musical in the West End.
On his appointment to Co-Chair, Nicholai said:
“It is an honour to take up the position of co-chair. It has been a wonderful experience to be a part of the Kinetika Bloco success over the last five years, and I hope that I can be a part of the continued success. Kinetika Bloco is not only changing the landscape of music in the UK but also changing the lives so many young people and families across generations. I am so proud to be a small part of this great company. I look forward to what the future holds.”
We are delighted to have both David and Nicholai along with our other Trustees looking after us as we move into the new year
